Life as a parent can be an exhilarating, yet demanding journey. With schedules packed with school drop-offs, meal preparations, endless errands, and countless responsibilities, it's easy to lose touch with oneself in the whirlwind of daily life. However, to get through the chaos, it's essential to carve out moments of respite and self-care.
For me, one such escape is a short hike in the great outdoors, often with my camera in hand. The chosen trail for my escape? A local gem, tucked away just a short drive from my home. Minutes away from downtown Dayton, Ohio, lies the secluded retreat known as the Bergamo Center. Tucked amidst the urban hustle and bustle, this little haven is perched atop Mount Saint John, encompassing 150 acres of meticulously maintained grounds and forested trails. Bergamo is the kind of place where time slows down, spirits are rekindled, bodies are reinvigorated, and minds expand.
Although the laundry and dishes still awaited me, my spirit was lighter, my mind clearer, and my heart more peaceful. The short hike had given me the escape I needed to recharge my energy and to face the day's challenges with renewed vigor.
To anyone who sometimes loses sight of who they are, remember that it's okay to take a step back from the demands of life and find solace in nature's embrace. In the serenity of the outdoors, you can rediscover your inner strength and return to your loved ones as a refreshed and more centered version of yourself.
So, whenever life feels overwhelming, lace up your hiking boots, and embark on your own journey of escape, discovery, and renewal.
