Anniversaries are special occasions that deserve to be celebrated in a memorable way. For our recent anniversary, my husband and I decided to embark on a romantic weekend getaway to the enchanting Glen Laurel Inn & Cottages in Rockbridge, Ohio. Nestled in the heart of the Hocking Hills region, this hidden gem offered us an unforgettable experience filled with natural beauty, luxury accommodations, and exquisite dining. As we drove through the winding roads of Hocking Hills, anticipation filled the air.
Upon arriving at Glen Laurel Inn, we were greeted by the warm and friendly staff who made us feel instantly welcome. As always, the check-in process was smooth, and we were escorted to our private suite, The MacDonald. This visit was my third, however a first for my husband. The suite was a rustic yet luxurious haven surrounded by lush woods. It featured a cozy fireplace, a comfortable king-sized bed, and a well-appointed bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub for two. The large windows offered stunning views of the serene forest, allowing us to wake up to the beauty of nature every morning.
One of the highlights of our anniversary weekend was exploring the grounds. Glen Laurel Inn & Cottages provides access to various hiking trails, and we decided to start our day with a hike to Camusfearna Gorge. The trail was well-marked and led us to a breathtaking waterfall scene within a limestone recess cave. The beauty of the waterfall was undeniable, although it was presently devoid of flowing water this late in the season. We spent hours marveling this natural wonder and taking photos to commemorate our special day.
Glen Laurel Inn & Cottages is known for its exceptional dining experiences, and our anniversary dinner did not disappoint. We enjoyed a delectable six-course meal in the elegant dining room, complete with candlelight and soft music. The menu featured locally-sourced ingredients, and each dish was a culinary masterpiece. They are commitment to providing a distraction-free environment. Here, guests are kindly asked to stow away their phones, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the moment. The absence of screens and notifications creates a serene atmosphere where couples can reconnect, converse, and savor their meal without interruption. It's a place where time seems to slow down, allowing diners to appreciate not only the cuisine but also the company of their loved ones in a truly tranquil setting.
